The acclaimed Swedish folk/pop duo First Aid Kit premiers their new single on PSL (Swedish Television). The Lions Roar is also the titletrack from the coming album which will be released January 24 2012.
The duo has been working with Bright Eyes Mike Mogis, among other, on the coming album. Earlier this year, they have also recorded two covers with Jack White on his project ”Blue Series”.
If you wanna catch the sisters on tour, get yourself to Sweden in December.
Swedish band Deportees from Umeå release their4th studioalbum Oct 19. Check out their great single Islands & Shores. A dark, fateful song with a Interpol & The National kind of vibe.
The vocals from Peder Stenberg gives me a shivering Waterboys-Mike Scott-feeling, simply stunning.
One of our times greatest, is covered by the finest of finest. Justin Vernon and Bon Iver covers Dylan.
The song ”With God On Our Side from the album ”The Times They Are A Changing” one of my favorit albums, containing ”Ballad of Hollis Brown” and ”Boots of Spanish Leather”, was recorded live at a Portland show a week ago.
Trummor & Orgel is intense stuff! Instrumental, darting, heavy. The band smell of a 1965-joint, Hansson & Karlsson, Swedish hammond-psychodelia with a vengeance. It´s a jazz volcano ready to hit the streets.
Their new album Out of Bounds is released today, Sept 21, and we vote for a immediate success. Thanks to the two brothers Anders Ljunggren & Staffan Ljunggren of Trummor & Orgel who took time out of their busy schedule to answer our five Q´s.

¤ What are you listening to, right now?
”At the moment we’re listening our own album “Out of Bounds”, haha. No but really, we’re very satisfied with the result and feel that this album is the one you can listen to many times. Otherwise, we have rediscovered a lot from the nineties like The Charlatans and the Stone Roses.”
¤ Best book read in a while?
”Well, we don’t necessarily read the same books, but “Recording the Beatles” by Kevin Ryan and Brian Kehew helped out a lot during the making of the record.”
¤ Your hopes for this year?
”A: Well, most of all, with our new record out we hope to reach out to even more people and find new venues and festivals to visit. It is a fantastic feeling to be able to meet the fans and to have the opportunity to actually get more fans.”
¤ Three artists who inspire you?
”Musicwise, at the moment we are inspired by bands like Death Cab for Cutie and Two Door Cinema Club for their immediate melodies and pop tunes. However, in the background you will always find The Cure and My Bloody Valentine mixed with Brian Auger and Small Faces.”
¤ Which artist or band deserves a breakthru?
”There are a lot of great bands out there that makes fantastic music. Side Effects is a young Swedish band which sees huge potential, playing psychedelic pop at its best. I’m sure we will hear more from them in the future. Frantic Sunday is a band from our home town Uppsala which is a great live act. Also, Andreas Stellan (also in The Works) who is currently recording his own Swedish material has a great voice and really deserves some serious attention.”
The sextet from Newcastle. With such an introduction, you kinda wonder what you are in for. Thinkin of Newcastle, brings, at least for me up pictures of dirty workers, hard life, and pretty rough music style.
Lanterns On The Lake sounds nothing like Newcastle. The dreamy sound of Hazel Wilde’s voice and the almost creepy closeness of the rest of the band. It is intimate, it is an exciting mix of dreampop-americana-shoegaze-greatness.
The album, the eleven songs stick together, though not conformed. This is an album that will evolve with every listen. I am still mesmerized by how large it is. The feeling of complete and utter understanding of sound. Sound that you carry with you for a long long time.
Once again a debut album makes me really really excited. Music at its very best.
5 out of 7 for Lanterns On The Lake. I am sure that they will be on a lot of EOY-lists when we sum up 2011. I am sure.
Thunderegg is a band/recording project led by Will Georgantas. The band released their latest album Line Line on September 13th, recorded by Alan Weatherhead (Sparklehorse) at Sound of Music studios in Richmond, Virginia.
This is wellaged, insightful stuff. Sweetening and perfect for a crisp autumn day, contemplating the dirtroads ahead over strong cups of coffee.
One of the greatest album released during 2009 was truly ”Lungs” from Florence + The Machine. Still have ”Howl” as of my absolute favorite songs ever made.
Florence Welch, is releasing her sophomore album, with the title ”Ceremonials” later this fall, october 31. The record is produced by Paul Epworth and will probably be as extraordinary as the debut.
I fell head over heels in love the last time. This time I already feel the butterflies awakening in my stomach.
Since we don’t wanna wait till late fall, we’ll take a look and a listen to the two tracks released so far…
