New stuff: Deportees

Jonas

Swedish band Deportees from Umeå release their4th studioalbum Oct 19. Check out their great single Islands & Shores. A dark, fateful song with a Interpol & The National kind of vibe.

The vocals from Peder Stenberg gives me a shivering Waterboys-Mike Scott-feeling, simply stunning.

Wapusk…

Magnus

New single from Kathleen Edwards released by Zoë/Rounder Records  today, from her forthcoming album.

The album which will be named ”Voyageur”, will hit the streets next year.

The song Wapusk, which is produced by mr Bon Iver, Justin Vernon, her boyfriend,  is perfect for those dark autumn nights that lies ahead.

Hell I’d say it will fit any day of the week. Take a close listen, and you will hear Justin Vernon in the back. Sweet sweet stuff.

Florence, Florence…

Magnus

One of the greatest album released during 2009 was truly ”Lungs” from Florence + The Machine. Still have ”Howl” as of my absolute favorite songs ever made.

Florence Welch, is releasing her sophomore album, with the title ”Ceremonials” later this fall, october 31. The record is produced by Paul Epworth and will probably be as extraordinary as the debut.

I fell head over heels in love the last time. This time I already feel the butterflies awakening in my stomach.

Since we don’t wanna wait till late fall, we’ll take a look and a listen to the two tracks released so far…

How Come You Never Go There

Kentuckyseven

Leslie Feist, the Canadian whom we have grown to love during the years is releasing her fourth album, Metals.

The release is set to October 4th, on Universal / Polydor in europe.

Her last album, The Reminder, was one of 2007′ best albums, and still holds a massive place in our world of great music. When James Blake covered her Limit To Your Love, we picked up the album again. This is the real deal.

I am sure that Feist will let no one down with her new stuff. Just listen to this, and you will be as assured as I am.

Miss K…

Kentuckyseven

Deer Tick, the band who made one of last years absolute greatest album ”Black Dirt Sessions” is releasing another album.

The name of the album is Divine Providence and it is the fourth album in five years. Listening to the song they have released for download ”Miss K”, it sounds like good ol country is having a part in this one.

Recorded and produced at home in Rhode Island, the record will be out come October 25 on Partisan Records.

Hell, it is a long way to both Tipperary and October 25. Listen to ”Miss K” right here… Deer Tick – Miss K.

Read more? Interview with Ian O’Neil from Deer Tick, made in November last year… What are you listening to Ian?

Brown Bird – Salt for Salt

Magnus

Photo: Mikael Kennedy

When we interviewed The Low Anthem earlier this year, they mentioned Brown Bird as something to listen in on. We did.

Brown Bird is David Lamb and Morganeve Swain. From Rhode Island, like so many other of the greatest bands that we have met. Their music is, as they put it themselves, ”best listened to in a room of wood”. Could not agree more.

It is Americana, the way it was intended. It makes you stomp your feet, nod your head and just close your eyes and dream of the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Their forthcoming full-length will be released october 18 by Supply & Demand. If you like long beards, beautiful voices, banjo and sweet sweet music, you wanna pick that one up.

The Drums – Portamento

Magnus

The acclaimed brooklyn-based indie-trio The Drums has announced the release of their sophomore album. The band, made a sweet debut last year with their self-titled album, sold a shitload of albums and toured the globe.

The new album will appear very up close and personal. as Jonny Pierce describes it ”This new album touches everything from my extreme religious roots to transgenderism to violence, and of course there is plenty of heartbreak stuff, wich I couldn’t get away from even if I tried”

The first single ”Money” will be released September 5th, the album September 12th via Moshi Moshi / Cooperative Music. Listen to ”Money”, below…

New song: Ben Harper

Jonas

Remember Ben Harper? The man that gave us classic 90´s-albums as ’Will To Live’ and ’Fight For Your Mind’ not to mention the kick-ass ’Live From Mars’ from 2001. He´s back with a new album; ’Give Till It´s Gone’.

Kentuckyseven loves this guy. He just released a great new single with that free-flyin-Tom Petty-Bob Dylan-whole-hearted-American sound that we can´t resist.

This is a tune that grows on you. Great lyrics, and a certain vibe that makes me wanna get behind the wheels and head into the dark, dark night. Check it out.
