A bluegrass duo from the west coast of Sweden just made me dance round the Kentuckyoffice. Blue Eyed Blondes got it all right. They play their country-folky-gosply stuff and it aches to the bone.
The hillbillies Lina Lönnberg och Kristoffer Emanuelsson got greatness ahead of them, we´re along for the sunset ride.
Their new album ”EP” is out April 8th and do yourself a favour and check out the band on Spotify or Myspace.
The beautiful and talented ’Delta Maid’ of Liverpool releases her single ’Of My Own’ on May 1st, taken from the debut album ’Outside Looking In’ out May 9th. Great stuff, check it out.
The developing and accelerating musicscene of late is like Klondike back in 1896. It´s Bonanza Creek all over.
Agnes Obel is a 30 year old danish singer/song-writer now living in Berlin. She writes, plays, sings, records and produces all her own material and is influenced by artists such as Roy Orbinson and Joni Mitchell.
Her beautiful debutalbum Philharmonics was released a while ago and hit seven weeks at #1 in Denmark. It´s now re-released in a deluxe version adding a second cd featuring six live-tracks and five instrumenal pianotunes. Realeasedate May 2nd.
The Indie/Folk/Rock duo Wye Oak from Baltimore are stuck in my headphones. Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner creates massive harmony, while carefully letting us know. Know what is right and what is wrong. The album Civilian is definitely right.
Wye Oak is currently @ SXSW, follow them on twitter
Been hooked on Civilian – title track from the album, which was released by City Slang and Merge records this month. An album that really grows on you. If you don’t believe me, just listen and you will understand.
Are you soon to be in Roubaix, Laval, Bayonne, Dijon, Toulouse, Niort or Annecy? Well, me neither. But they are all in France and the fabulous band Dark Dark Dark play there in the dire month of March.
Singer Nona Marie Invie invites you to the eerie soundtrack of americana slash eastern Europe. It´s a Beirut kind of twang.
Dark Dark Dark are from Minneapolis. They are pretty famous from a tv-series-song. And they are really beautiful. If you are into heavy stuff, this is your Dr Feelgood.
It will keep you company when the wind turns cold. I miss them every time I turn them off. The album Wild Go is released by Melodic on April 25.
Check out british indierockers Guillemots, with amazing Fyfe Dangerfield in front. They smashed their hometown London yesterday and got some pretty fine review from Mr Holy Moly himself.
Introducing the talented Jonas Asker. A one-person-show and his voice tells the story. It´s raw talent, an old mans tale in a young mans way.
This Stockholmian began as a raggae-keyboardplayer. At 22 he started singing and moved to Paris. Back in Sweden he picked up his fathers guitar, a broken one with only four strings, and started hammering. Since then he always plays fourstring-guitar.
A new single will show up before the summer of 2011 and an album later on. Kentuckyseven can´t wait.
